Generally speaking, the viva is the most successful part of the CICM Fellowship. Those who tend to pass the written also tend to pass the viva, which indicates that the level of theoretical preparation required for both is approximately similar. In other words, preparation for the written part furnishes the candidate with sufficient background knowledge to pass at least some portion of the viva.
With this in mind, the viva section has been organised with direct parallels to the SAQ section. The previous viva stations are organised into topic areas which match the SAQ "required reading" topics. As with the SAQs, the organisation of the vivas into topics was performed in a completely arbitrary manner, according to whatever arrangement seemed sensible to the occasionally encephalopathic author.
